Dancing, singing, there's all kinds of music and almost everyone has a talent in music. I think that mine is singing. Whenever I think of singing I think of God. That's probably why I enjoy singing so much. Whenever I go away to church camp, my dad and mom always write me letters to open every day so I don't miss them as much. But the letters that hit me the most are my dad's. He always says "I'm missin you singing around the house all day." That always makes me laugh. The reason I sing so much is because I know that God gave me that talent and I know that I'm lucky, because some people never do find their talent. So I encourage you to thank him with your talent too :P

Scripture in Music is POWER! When I was a child, my Pastor and Parents taught me that the real power in my life as a Christian would come from knowing and believing the Bible – not just words on a page, but as if the Creator of Heaven was right there talking to me – as my Father, my Doctor, my Savior, my Friend, my Comfort. It is in remembering this truth that our family has made it through many trials and hardships.

However, several years ago I attended a wonderful church where the Pastor’s wife struggled daily with severe mood swings and depression. Her church friends were constantly in prayer for her and despite all we knew to do, it was a battle that was never fully won.

So I prayed to the Lord and asked Him, “How can I protect myself from mental depression if Satan should ever attack me this way? What else can I do to keep my mind safe & sound?”

My answer was found in God’s Word, and even though written there for a thousand & more years, I believe it was (and still is) a true revelation for my generation. We live in a time where the use of anti-depressants, alcohol, and psychiatric visits are overwhelming. According to American Psychologist, 2000, “Twenty six percent of adult Americans reported being on the verge of a serious nervous breakdown.” And “Seven of the top selling drugs worldwide are either anti-depressants or anti-ulcer medications.” Behavioral Healthcare, 2002.

The Lord sent me to Samuel Chapter 16: 13-23. (Please read the entire verses.)
The Prophet Samuel anointed David with oil “and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward”.
“The Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and a distressing spirit came upon him”.
King Saul’s servants knew to seek out David for his skillful playing of the harp.

David was anointed from God and when he played the harp, “the distressing spirit would depart from Saul and he would become refreshed and well”.
In the Hebrew translation, “distressing” is also “troubled”. A troubled spirit is an attack from Satan to keep your mind off of your victory and stayed on your troubles. It can be in any form: sadness, anxiety, rage, worry, depression, mood swings.

Music has a direct link to your thoughts, feelings, and memories. From the moment I read that scripture, if I would start to feel sad, angry, or worried, I knew that listening to Praise & Worship - Gospel Music would make me become “refreshed and well”, just like King Saul. Evil spirits cannot dwell in a mind that is full of scripture! Just sing “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord”, and try to think depressing thoughts at the same time! It’s not possible!

All of the songs on this website are “Scripture in Music”, and have a powerful anointing! If you are suffering with depression or mental illness, I encourage you to download these songs and play them. It will make a victorious change in your life!

I remember back to a day when I was in a backslidden state and as I played one of my favorite records, I heard the singer sing "I know, I know, my sins are forgiven and I'm on my way to a place that's called heaven." I realized my sins weren't forgiven and dropped to my knees and repented before the song finished. Music means so much to me and Gracie's music helps me to implant the word of God into my memory, causing me to reach for it in times of need. David said, "Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee." I pray that Gracie's ministry will continue to bless others the way it is helping me.

Gracie Knafel has expressed and shared her love for our Lord through her gift of music. The "Praise Series" of CDs is such a blessing for anyone who listens to the music and reads the words. Gracie's music is precious to me in two very special ways. As background music, it surrounds me with such happy, peaceful feelings when I study, work, or visit with friends. My favorite way to enjoy Gracie's music is to have the words before me as I listen and sing-along. That is truly a time of worship and praise.

Kyra Lollar - Age 14

"The Turning Of The Knob"

When I was younger, my Mom, being the Godly mother that she is, only let me listen to edifying music. Most of my friends didn't have quite the same boundaries set though; so of course I don't think it was fair that my friends could listen to whatever they wanted and I was stuck with a boring radio station. I didn't really start exploring the radio until earlier this year and I found the station that EVERYONE listened to -- a hip-hop station with some vulgar language and suggestive comments about sex.

At first I didn't really pay attention to the words -- just to the fact that the tunes were hot!! After a while, without knowing it, I was memorizing most of the words to most of the songs. I didn't really think anything of it until church camp this year when one of my friends said a phrase that was in one of the songs that I had listened to recently. Now every time someone uses that phrase all I can think of is this dirty song. I didn't think that the music could effect me, but like my Mom says, "Trash in, trash out." The longer I listened to this station, the more my attitude and even my dress changed. I started wanting to advertise what the music was saying. I was never in a good mood. I was mouthing off more, and I was being sent to my room at least once a day to change into "something more appropriate."

Anyway, after going to church camp this year, and hearing the speakers talk about how music is more effective than we might think..... turns out, they were right. It has been about a month since camp and I can say that I have not listened to that station once while I am in control of the knob. I no longer want to dress the way I did and my attitude has made a "U-ie." Believe it or not... a lot can change with the TURNING OF A KNOB.
